The wine region of Mittelburgenland

Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Gesellmann or the Domaine Gesellmann produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Mittelburgenland are Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Mittelburgenland often reveals types of flavors of cherry, cream or vegetal and sometimes also flavors of cigar, floral or dried fruit.

The wine region of Weinland

Weinviertel DAC – whose name translates as "wine quarter" – is an appellation in Niederösterreich (Lower Austria). It is by far the largest Districtus Austriae Controllatus wine region in Austria. It was also the first Austrian wine region to be given that title, in 2002, with a DAC Reserve designation added in 2009. The designation applies only to white wines from the Grüner Veltliner Grape variety.

The word of the wine: Old vines

There are no specific regulations governing the term "vieilles vignes". After 20 to 25 years, the yields stabilize and tend to decrease, the vines are deeply rooted, and the grapes that come from them give richer, more concentrated, more sappy wines, expressing with more nuance the characteristics of their terroir. It is possible to find plots of vines that claim to be a century old.
