Emblematic Rhône grapes — fleshy peppery Syrah, fruity Grenache, structured Mourvèdre, Viognier in white. Spicy old-vine Zinfandel, a local signature. AVA of San Luis Obispo, 11 sub-AVAs, Mediterranean climate with thermal swings on limestone soils.
