The Jean Grivot Estate, located in Vosne-Romanée in the southeast of Burgundy, France, is an institution. Since the 17th century, six generations of the Grivot family have passed the baton, each in turn, to develop and maintain a quality vineyard. Today, the estate covers 8.5 hectares over some of the most beautiful plots of Vosne-Romanée, including five Grand Cru: Richebourg, Romanée-St-Vivant, Echézeaux, Grands-Echézeaux, and Clos de Vougeot. Additionally, the estate produces top-tier wines from patches in the region, including a selection of house burgundies. Vines at the domain are cultivated adhering to traditional methods. The grapes are hand-harvested, and the bunches are hand-sorted before pressing. The wines are then aged in barrels for several fortified vinification cycles as per the following: Pinot Noir produces powerful reds, in concentration and length; Auxerrois and Chardonnay produce light white wines. The wines produced by the estate are known for their complexity and elegance. The red wines are dark violet/purple with complex aromas of spices, ripe red fruits, and hazelnuts; soft and velvety tannins. The white wines are milky with aromas of almond, peaches, and citrus; they are balanced, of great freshness, and a very long finish. Finally, the Jean Grivot Estate also offers clients a unique and thrilling visit to its vineyards and wine cellar. Visitors can enjoy the enlightening and educational insights and captivating stories from local winegrowers and winemakers. A delightful picnic lunch is even served, where one can savor local wines.
