The Bitouzet-Prieur Estate is one of the hidden viticultural gems of the Burgundy region in France. Located in the heart of the Volnay appellation, this family estate has been in existence for over a century and a half and spans an impressive 12 hectares. The vineyard specializes in the production of red wines derived from Pinot Noir as well as a few white wines from Chardonnay. The range is wide and includes wines from the prestigious appellations of Volnay and Meursault, but also Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and others. Overlooking the valley below, the vineyard is dotted with enclosed plots, thereby allowing a great diversity of terroirs and thus offering a palette of wines with distinct identities. Today, the estate is managed by Vincent Bitouzet and his wife, who inherited their ancestors' passion for wine and perpetuate their know-how. The vineyard's work ethic is deeply rooted in respect for nature. They practice reasoned viticulture, paying particular attention to each vineyard plot, in order to produce wines that best reflect the unique characteristics of the Burgundy terroir. Visiting the Bitouzet-Prieur Estate is also an immersion into several generations of viticultural history. The cellars date back to the 19th century and still house traditional presses. One can taste wines from the estate, from the most accessible to the most refined, gaining a true education in the taste of Burgundy wines- the finesse of Meursault, the opulence of Volnay, the complexity of Pommard.
