The Chappellet Estate is a magnificent winery located on the eastern slopes of Pritchard Hill in St. Helena, in the Napa Valley wine region of the United States. Founded in 1967 by Donn and Molly Chappellet, this family winery quickly made its name due to the exceptional quality of its wines made from mountain-grown grapes. The Chappellet Estate covers 100 acres of terraced vineyards on the heights of Pritchard Hill. The vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate influenced by high altitudes, offering cooler temperatures during the summer months and warmer during the winter, which contributes to an extended ripening time for the grapes. This climatic peculiarity, combined with the shallow volcanic soil, promotes the production of concentrated and complex wines. The variety of grape varietals also contributes to the estate's reputation with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Chenin Blanc. The winemaking philosophy of the estate is based on an environmentally respectful approach. Indeed, the Chappellet Estate is Napa Green certified, a label that validates sustainable practices, such as water conservation, waste reduction and protection of the local ecosystem. Organic farming methods allow the vine to regain a natural balance without the use of chemical products. The Chappellet Estate is recognized for the exceptional quality of its wines, particularly its emblematic Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, which critics say is one of the best red wines in the Napa Valley. Moreover, the winery offers tours and tastings where wine enthusiasts can discover the stages of winemaking while tasting a selection of their best vintages.
