The Brumont Estate, located in the village of Madiran in the Southwest of France, was founded in 1987 by Alain Brumont and has become one of the country's biggest wine producers. Sophie Brumont, Alain's daughter and partner, has brought her passion and knowledge, including a degree in oenology and viticulture, to conceptualize the direction that has led the estate where it is today. The mission of the estate is to support the quality of the Madiran terroir and to cultivate quality wines with varietals that express themselves at their best and are most suited to these vineyards. At the Brumont Estate, the winemaking process uses modern techniques and ensures professional quality, guaranteeing wines that are as delicate and complex as the terroir. Only the healthiest grapes are selected to be bottled. All wines are racked and undergo a clarification process, and each bottle is also identified and checked. The wines from the Brumont Estate are produced from specific varietals that are grown on the estate and in the surrounding regions. The main varietals used are Tannat, Cabernet Franc and white Gros Manseng varietals such as Petit and Gros Courbu. The Estate produces a whole range of different wines, including reds, whites, rosés, and dessert wines. The wines are available all over the world and are also served in top restaurants and hotels. The estate is also a popular tourist destination, with tours through the vineyards and of course tastings. In conclusion, the Brumont Estate is a wine estate whose wines are considered among the finest in the Southwest of France. Discover the grape variety: Tannat

Tannat is a red grape variety from Béarn which belongs to the cotoïdes family. Present in several vineyards of France, it occupies nearly 3,000 ha. Its leaves are reddish with tan patches. Its bunches are either of normal size or larger. Its berries have a thin skin and are rounded. Its foliage has a swarthy appearance. This variety must be pruned long because it is vigorous. It likes sandy and gravelly soils. Tannat is often exposed to leafhoppers and mites. It is also somewhat susceptible to grey rot. It has 11 approved clones, including 474, 717 and 794. Once mature, this variety produces acidic, fruity, tannic, acidic and full-bodied wines. Various aromas emerge, notably tobacco, cinnamon and exotic wood. Tannat is rarely used alone. It is combined with iron-servadou to obtain a fruitier taste or with cabernet sauvignon to be more rounded.

Discover the grape variety: Cabernet franc

Cabernet Franc is one of the oldest red grape varieties in Bordeaux. The Libourne region is its terroir where it develops best. The terroirs of Saint-Emilion and Fronsac allow it to mature and develop its best range of aromas. It is also the majority in many blends. The very famous Château Cheval Blanc, for example, uses 60% Cabernet Franc. The wines produced with Cabernet Franc are medium in colour with fine tannins and subtle aromas of small red fruits and spices. When blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it brings complexity and a bouquet of aromas to the wine. It produces fruity wines that can be drunk quite quickly, but whose great vintages can be kept for a long time. It is an earlier grape variety than Cabernet Sauvignon, which means that it is planted as far north as the Loire Valley. In Anjou, it is also used to make sweet rosé wines. Cabernet Franc is now used in some twenty countries in Europe and throughout the world.
