The wine region of Glenrowan

GI in northeast Victoria, 240 km from the coast (deep red draining granite soils, warm valley floor with thermal amplitude on slopes, GI 2003): Shiraz and Durif (Petite Sirah) are the signature reds — concentrated dark berries and spicy pepper, deep colour, fleshy tannins. Iconic fortified sweet wines alongside Rutherglen (Muscat, Tokay-Muscadelle, Shiraz, Touriga) of celebrated oxidative complexity achieved through extended ageing.

The wine region of Victoria

Australian diversity from cool to temperate climate. Yarra Valley and Mornington: fine, silky Pinot Noir (cherry, raspberry, undergrowth), taut, mineral Chardonnay. Heathcote: structured Shiraz with black fruits, pepper and chocolate. Rutherglen, fortified capital: opulent sweet Topaque and Muscat (raisin, caramel, fig, roast notes).

The word of the wine: Cinsault

Cinsault is a southern black grape variety that can be found in the blends of most Mediterranean appellations, but most often as an accessory grape variety. It is undoubtedly most present in certain rosé wines (in Corbières, Côtes-de-Provence, etc.): it gives these wines highly appreciated aromas of strawberry, peach and raspberry. In vin de pays (IGP), it is often vinified on its own, usually as a rosé.
