Capital of great French aromatic whites, most often dry and single-varietal. Straight, mineral Riesling (lemon, gunflint), opulent, exuberant Gewurztraminer (lychee, rose, spices), round, smoky Pinot Gris, floral, crisp Muscat, supple Pinot Blanc. Aphid that came from America and ravaged European vineyards at the end of the 19th century. It lives on the roots of the vine, from which it pumps the sap.
