The wine region of Rioja Alta is located in the region of Rioja of Spain. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia or the Domaine R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia produce mainly wines red, white and pink.
The most planted grape varieties in the region of Rioja Alta are Tempranillo, Chardonnay and Verdejo, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Rioja Alta often reveals types of flavors of cream, rosemary or sweet tobacco and sometimes also flavors of walnut, star anise or black olive. In the mouth of Rioja Alta is a powerful with a nice balance between acidity and tannins. We currently count 46 estates and châteaux in the of Rioja Alta, producing 146 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture.
The wines of Rioja Alta go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or pork.
