The wine region of Champagne Grand Cru 'Oger'
Grand Cru of the Côte des Blancs (~403 ha, 99. 6% Chardonnay, deep chalky clay soils): exclusive Chardonnay in Blanc de Blancs — dominant minerality structuring the whole and conferring remarkable length, initial citrus and almost graphite mineral notes, a characteristic slightly smoky dimension of Oger, delicate floral notes. Maturation and freshness on deep chalk. Promoted to Grand Cru in 1985.
The wine region of Champagne
World benchmark sparkling wines: fine bubbles, citrusy tension, notes of brioche, toasted almond, white flowers and white-fleshed fruits after ageing on lees. Three grapes blended or solo: fleshy Pinot Noir (38%), fruity Meunier (33%), chiselled Chardonnay (28%). From straight Blanc de Blancs to vinous Blanc de Noirs, from non-vintage Brut to age-worthy Millésimé. AOC since 1927, 34,300 ha on chalk, 17 Grands Crus and 44 Premiers Crus.
The word of the wine: De-vatting
Separation of the fermented juice from all solid particles (skin, pips, deposit of lees) by transferring it to a second tank.
