The Domaine Divison is a fascinating vineyard located in Eola-Amity Hills, in Oregon, United States. This estate plays a major role in the wine landscape of the Pacific Northwest region. Established by Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe in 2010, the Domaine Divison is primarily the product of a shared passion for wine and a desire to produce expressive, authentic, and superior quality wines. Personifying their philosophy of "do and let do," the two founders are committed to respecting the natural environment and using sustainable viticulture methods. The Domaine Divison stretches over incredibly beautiful lands, bordered by rolling hills and undulating lands. The vines, planted on these slopes, benefit from a well-drained soil that promotes the development of the grapes. The region's climate is unique: warm and dry summers and mild winters contribute to the ideal maturation of the grapes, enhancing their concentration in flavors. On this estate of more than 30 hectares, different types of grape varieties are found, among which Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Gamay Noir are the most cultivated. By maintaining a minimalist approach to winemaking, the estate manages to produce wines that accurately express the terroir of their vines. They are known for their aromatic depth, finesse, and balance. At Domaine Divison, all phases of production, from vine cultivation to winemaking, are carried out with meticulous care. Traditional winemaking techniques are used, including spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and aging in oak barrels. Beyond wine production, Domaine Divison is also a place open to visitors.

Discover the grape variety: Gamay noir

Gamay is a Burgundian grape variety that has existed since the 14th century. For fear of competition with the pinot noir of Burgundy, gamay was finally uprooted and planted in the Beaujolais region, from Mâcon to Lyon. These siliceous and granitic soils suit it perfectly, and it gives its best here. But it is also planted all over France, such as in Lorraine, in the Loire Valley, in Bugey, in Savoie and in Auvergne. Gamay is early and very productive and needs to be limited so that quality prevails over quantity. Short winter pruning of the shoots and high density of vines per hectare are the methods that allow it to produce very fruity, fresh and greedy red wines. Gamay is also very popular in red wine futures, and produces wines from the Beaujolais region with very interesting character and ageing potential. The AOCs Crémant-de-Bourgogne, Mâcon, Anjou, Touraine, Rosé de vallée de la Loire, Côtes-d'Auvergne, Saint-Pourçain, Bugey, Gaillac, Côtes du Luberon... and many vins de pays are proud of it. Today, about 36,000 hectares of Gamay are cultivated in France, including 22,000 hectares in Beaujolais.
