Discover the grape variety: Ahmeur bou A(h)meur

Its origin would be from North Africa (Algeria/Kabylie) or Spain. It is a variety that was often grown on trellises in front of houses and sometimes its grapes were preserved in brandy to be enjoyed throughout the year. It is found in North Africa, the United States (California), Argentina, Spain and Portugal. In France, it is not well known because of its susceptibility to winter frosts and its late ripening.

The wine region of Galice

Galicia is one of the 17 first-level administrative regions (called comunidades autónomas) of Spain. It occupies the northwestern corner of the Iberian Peninsula, and is exposed on two sides to the Atlantic Ocean. To the South is Portugal, to the east Castilla y Leon. Viticulture has a Long tradition in Galicia, introduced to the region by the ancient Romans and continued by monks throughout the Middle Ages.

The word of the wine: Servadou iron

A black grape variety from the southwest that produces a wine with spicy tannins and black currant and raspberry aromas. Under the name of Mansois, it is the main grape variety of Marcillac; it is also one of the important varieties of Gaillacois, where it is called Braucol. It is also used in the blends of other South-Western appellations (Fronton, Lavilledieu, Estaing, Madiran). Syn.: braucol, pinenc, mansois.
