AVA in the Santa Monica Mountains west of Los Angeles (2006, 850 ha at ~500 m, 8 km from the Pacific, Hambright and Gilroy loam clay draining soils, marine breezes tempering hot dry summers, south-facing slopes): signature Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah as bold reds — intense concentrated fruit balanced by altitude freshness.
