DOCG (1998) — Italy's first white to receive the DOCG — in the Classico hills east of Verona. Garganega (up to 30% Trebbiano di Soave, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco) as a passito sweet wine via 4–6 months appassimento in airy fruttai. Basaltic volcanic and well-drained calcareous soils, south-facing slopes with refreshing Lessini mountain breezes. Amber robe, honey, candied fruit, apricot and toasted almond — Garganega's natural acidity prevents heaviness, a defining balance.
