The wine region of Andalousie

Andalusia, located in the southwest of Spain, is the southernmost administrative region of the Spanish mainland. It is home to the world-famous fortified wine, sherry. This dynamic region is the most populous in Spain and has a colourful history. Its strategic position at the gateway to the Mediterranean and its proximity to Africa have made it the target of many settlements and invasions throughout history.

The Irancy appellation seen by Clotilde Davenne

Clotilde Davenne, from the eponymous estate, mentions the cherry as a main characteristic of the Irancy appellation. She tells us about the Pinot Noir variety which reveals, in its northern location of Bourgogne, lots of freshness and fruitiness that gives the appellation a very special place among the wines of the region. The word of the wine: Wooded

A set of aromas brought about by ageing in barrels (usually oak). This can be pleasant when, in small doses, it brings a touch of spice, roast or vanilla to an already constructed ensemble. When the violent woodiness dominates the wine, it is quickly tiring. Easily identifiable aromatically, it is sought after (to the point of abuse) by the makers of coarse wines. New World manufacturers and, alas, some French winemakers use oak chips to impart the woody taste, which is tantamount to artificial flavoring.
