The Matarromera Estate is a remarkable winery, located in the heart of the prestigious Ribera del Duero region in Spain. Since its foundation in 1988, it has carved out an enviable place on the international wine scene thanks to the quality and authenticity of its wines. The estate is nestled on the north bank of the Duero River, amidst lush vegetation and under a Mediterranean climate that provides ideal conditions for viticulture. It spans nearly 150 hectares, predominantly planted with Tinta del País, a local variety of Tempranillo, the emblematic grape variety of the region. The vineyards are cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment. The Matarromera Estate is firmly committed to a sustainable development approach, aiming to minimise its ecological footprint. As such, it has implemented reasoned viticultural practices, such as the use of organic fertilisers and the restriction of the use of chemical products. The grapes are harvested by hand, at optimal maturity, to ensure the maximum expression of the unique terroir of Ribera del Duero. They are then transformed into wine in the estate's brand new, ultra-modern winery, which combines centuries-old traditions and cutting-edge technologies to faithfully reflect the distinctive character of each vintage. The production of the Matarromera Estate does not stop at full-bodied, tannin-rich reds, typical of the region. It also makes elegant white wines as well as exquisite fruity rosés. The ageing of some wines is done in French and American oak barrels, which gives them remarkable depth and complexity.
