DOC in Emilia-Romagna southwest of Imola (Bologna), pre-Apennine clay-limestone hills. Sangiovese is the signature red (≥85% in varietal): full-bodied and fruity with red cherry, plum, violet, herbs and spice, firm tannins and lively acidity; Riserva requires 18 months ageing.
