Made as dry (Trocken, Alsace), off-dry (Kabinett, Spätlese) and sweet (Auslese, Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese, late harvest). Star of the Moselle, Rheingau, Alsace AOC and Wachau. Homeland of Grüner Veltliner: Austria's signature dry whites, lively, peppery ("Pfefferl"), with notes of citrus, green apple, fennel and fine minerality, from crunchy everyday to great age-worthy bottles on lees.
