This variety is the result of an intraspecific cross between Pinot Noir and Pirovano 1 (Chasselas rose x Hamburg Muscat), obtained in 1939 by Heinrich Birk at the Geinsenheim Research Station (Germany). The wine region of Sierre
The wine region of Sierre is located in the region of Valais of Switzerland. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Adrian et Diego Mathier or the Domaine Claudy Clavien produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Sierre are Pinot noir, Gamay noir and Chasselas, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety.
