Emerging region of southern Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), rolling hills at 200-400 m on granite and schist soils, marked diurnal temperature range. Cabernet Sauvignon is the signature red: structured and fresh with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, pepper and an herbal touch, firm tannins and acidity preserved by altitude. Supple Merlot, dense Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional and robust Tannat complement. Taut Chardonnay and lively Sauvignon Blanc in whites.
