Sub-region of the Olifants River in Western Cape (western end, 160 km north of Cape Town, vineyards among the highest in the country at 490-670 m, sandy and schistose draining soils, arid climate with scorching days and cool altitude nights preserving acidity): Grenache as the signature king variety in old vine bush vines (Piekenierskloof, 1950) — concentrated profile with spiced red fruits. Pinotage, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc as complements.
