In the 16th and 17th centuries, the wines of Clos des Menuts were traded in local markets and sent to ports. The vineyard has about 13.5 hectares of vines that primarily grow on clay and limestone soils. Several grape varieties are cultivated, including Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. The winemakers work hard to produce wines that resonate with the estate's philosophy: powerful, balanced wines that harmoniously reflect the terroir and the spirit of the place. Regarding wine production, everything is managed traditionally, and some of the most modern equipment is used in the winery. All the wines are stored in wine cellars built with high-quality materials, perfectly matching the local architectural style and the best materials. The wines are aged on fine lees for a period ranging from 8 to 18 months. The wines are then further refined in barrels for an additional period before being marketed. The Clos des Menuts Estate produces high-quality wines that reflect the quality of the vines and the care given by the Liedot family and their team. The wines are well received by critics and enthusiasts and are considered one of the best producers in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. Discover the grape variety: Cabernet franc

Cabernet Franc is one of the oldest red grape varieties in Bordeaux. The Libourne region is its terroir where it develops best. The terroirs of Saint-Emilion and Fronsac allow it to mature and develop its best range of aromas. It is also the majority in many blends. The very famous Château Cheval Blanc, for example, uses 60% Cabernet Franc. The wines produced with Cabernet Franc are medium in colour with fine tannins and subtle aromas of small red fruits and spices. When blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it brings complexity and a bouquet of aromas to the wine. It produces fruity wines that can be drunk quite quickly, but whose great vintages can be kept for a long time. It is an earlier grape variety than Cabernet Sauvignon, which means that it is planted as far north as the Loire Valley. In Anjou, it is also used to make sweet rosé wines. Cabernet Franc is now used in some twenty countries in Europe and throughout the world.
