Château Ausone is a wine estate located in Saint-Émilion Grand Cru in France. It was founded in 1851 by the Castéja family, who still own the property today. The enchantment is complete the moment one discovers this estate, perched on the hillside. The courtyard of Château Ausone inevitably captures attention with its stunning stone walls and ornately carved wooden gates, it presents a pleasant view over the steep hillside facing it. This vineyard spans about 13.5 hectares with clay-limestone soil on very varied soils closest to the right bank of the Isle, the river that runs through Saint-Émilion. The main grape varieties produced are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with vineyards that have an average age of 40 years. For nearly 150 years, Château Ausone has produced some of the finest dry red wines. The estate was classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A in 1855 and represents the quintessence of Saint-Émilion wine. The cellar of Château Ausone offers a range of rich, balanced wines, which are the fruits of the Castéja family's persistence and commitment over generations. Discover the grape variety: Cabernet franc

Cabernet Franc is one of the oldest red grape varieties in Bordeaux. The Libourne region is its terroir where it develops best. The terroirs of Saint-Emilion and Fronsac allow it to mature and develop its best range of aromas. It is also the majority in many blends.
