The wine region of Rosso Conero Riserva
DOCG of the Marche on the Conero promontory south of Ancona (Adriatic coast, chalky-clay soils, continental climate tempered by the sea, DOCG 2004): Montepulciano red king (≥85%) — black cherry, blackberry and plum underpinned by black pepper, Mediterranean herbs and saline minerality. Alcohol ≥12. 5%, minimum 2-year ageing, cellaring potential up to 10 years. A racé maritime red.
The wine region of Marche
Italian star of Verdicchio: exceptional age-worthy whites, straight and mineral with signature notes of green almond, lemon, green apple, dry herbs and a slightly bitter finish. Two DOCGs: Castelli di Jesi (coastal, airy) and Matelica (inland, more concentrated). Mediterranean reds: fleshy Montepulciano in Rosso Conero near Ancona, supple Sangiovese. Also fresh Pecorino and Passerina.
The word of the wine: Confit
Said of red wines that offer a very ripe nose of red and black fruits reminiscent of jam. On the palate, these aromas are dominant, the wine is very fleshy and round, and leaves an impression of sweetness on the finish that weighs it down.
