The Domaine Cheveau is a prestigious vineyard located in the beautiful Beaujolais region of France. Nestled in the picturesque Saône valley, the estate is surrounded by green hills and breathtaking landscapes, providing an idyllic setting for vine cultivation. The estate spans approximately 14 hectares of vineyard land, where several varieties of grapevines are lovingly and passionately cultivated, including the famous Gamay, typical of Beaujolais. The vines, planted on granitic and clay-limestone soils, are worked with respect for nature, without the use of pesticides or insecticides. The harvest is carried out by hand to preserve the fruit's quality and obtain perfectly ripened grapes. Since its establishment, Domaine Cheveau has remained a family operation. Today, it is led by Jean-Louis Cheveau. Along with his wife Maryse, they strive to perpetuate tradition while innovating to produce superior quality wines. Their aim is to translate the authentic expression of the terroir into each bottle, crafting fruity, fine, and elegant wines. The wines of Domaine Cheveau are recognized for their purity and intense aromatic quality. They offer a perfect balance between freshness and structure, and have a great aging potential. Among their emblematic cuvées, they offer the vibrant and appealing "Beaujolais Villages" red wine, as well as the fuller and stronger "Juliénas". Visiting Domaine Cheveau provides an opportunity to discover the vine cultivating process, from pruning to harvesting, including winemaking and wine aging.

Discovering the wine region of Beaujolais

Beaujolais is an important wine region in eastern France, famous for its vibrant, Fruity red wines made from Gamay. It is located immediately South of Burgundy, of which it is sometimes considered a Part, although it is in the administrative region of Rhône. The extensive plantings of Gamay in this region make Beaujolais one of the few regions in the world that is so concentrated on a single Grape variety. Pinot Noir is used in small quantities in red and rosé wines, but in the name of regional identity, it is being phased out and will only be allowed until the 2015 harvest.

Although best known for its red wines, the region also produces white Beaujolais Blanc, from Chardonnay and Aligote. These two white wine varieties are also sometimes used in local red wines, in which they can make up to 15% of the Final blend. There are several forms of Beaujolais red wine: standard Beaujolais (including Beaujolais Supérieur), Beaujolais Villages and the Young, characterful Beaujolais Nouveau. The highest quality wines of the region are those of the ten Beaujolais crus - ten wine regions Long recognized as the best in the region.
