The Diamond Creek Estate is a prestigious vineyard located in Calistoga, at the heart of the beautiful wine region of the Napa Valley, California, in the United States. This unique estate is renowned for producing some of the country's finest and most distinguished red wines. Founded in 1968 by Al Brounstein, a businessman with a passion for wine, the estate currently spans nearly 20 hectares of lush landscape. The soil of the Diamond Creek Estate is one of its most distinctive features. Brounstein's vineyards are renowned for being the first in California to be planted exclusively with Cabernet Sauvignon, a strategy focused on quality rather than quantity. The estate is divided into four distinct vineyards - Gravelly Meadow, Volcanic Hill, Red Rock Terrace and Lake - each plot having a distinct terroir reflected in the unique flavor profile of each wine. Gravelly Meadow is the least productive vineyard due to its highly draining soil, but it produces wines with remarkable depth and complexity. Volcanic Hill is the largest and hottest of the vineyards, offering powerful yet balanced wines. Red Rock Terrace, with its iron-rich soil, produces generous and accessible wines, while Lake, the smallest of the four, is reserved for special micro-cuvées. Since its inception, the Diamond Creek Estate has always been an innovator. In addition to focusing exclusively on cabernet sauvignon, Brounstein was also the first to use vineyard labelling in California, showcasing the names of his different vineyards on his bottles. By doing so, he highlighted the importance of terroir and introduced the concept of "crus" into the Napa Valley.
