The estate, stretching over 22 hectares, is one of the smallest isolated chateaus in the Graves appellation producing red and white wines - 60% red and 40% white, all labelled Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (A.O.C). The vineyard is made up of clay-gravel soils and deep gravels, southwest oriented for the red vines and southeast for the white varieties. The grape varieties used on the estate are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc (for red wines) and Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon (for white wines). The wines of Château Picque Caillou are produced following modern viticulture and winemaking techniques coupled with meticulous artisanal work. The red wines are aged in new French barrels for 12 to 15 months while the white wines are aged on fine lees for 6 months. The wines produced at Picque Caillou are of an acknowledged quality and are essential for the Pessac-Léognan Bourgeois Crus. The reds are fruity and fine, balanced with soft tannins and aromas of vanilla and cedar with hints of spice and cigar. The whites are lively, fresh, and fragrant with notes of flowers, peach, and pear. Therefore, Château Picque Caillou is a vineyard offering red and white wines of exceptional quality, the power and refinement typical of the wines from the region associated with modern and contemporary notions.
