D.N.A. analyses have shown that it is the result of a natural cross between the sabaté and the callet cas concos (negrella), the latter being in danger of extinction. The wine region of Alentejo is located in the region of Alentejano of Portugal. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Cartuxa or the Domaine Adega Mayor produce mainly wines red, white and sweet.
