Intensely coloured, structured reds with a dark ruby robe, firm tannins and a dense palate of blackfruit (blackberry, blackcurrant, plum), cherry, spices, black pepper and balsamic notes. A tannin-rich profile adding colour and structure to southern blends. Grown mainly in the South-West (Aveyron, Tarn, Aquitaine) for IGP and VDP wines. French hybrid created in 1954 by INRA Bordeaux (fer servadou × abouriou), a modern teinturier grape.

The wine region of Provincia di Mantova

Lombardian IGT covering the province of Mantua on the Po plain, temperate continental climate with winter fogs, fertile alluvial soils. Lambrusco is the signature sparkling red, vinified dry ("secco"): natural frizzante with red cherry, raspberry, violet, redcurrant and a herbaceous touch, lively refreshing palate, fresh mousse. Salamino, Grappello Ruberti, Viadanese and Maestri blended with Ancellotta for colour. Ideal companion to tortelli di zucca and Mantuan salumi.
