DOC of Apulia on the central Murge plateau south of Bari, limestone plateau at 200–500 m, among the highest in Apulia, cooler climate than Salento. Primitivo is the flagship red (historic cradle alongside Manduria): ample and structured with notes of blackberry, black cherry, plum, herbs, pepper and a balsamic touch, fine tannins and refreshing acidity — more elegant and slender than Manduria.
