The wine region of Bolgheri Sassicaia

Exclusive DOC of Tenuta San Guido in coastal Tuscany — the first Italian wine from a single estate to obtain its own denomination (DOC 2013). Parcels of Castiglioncello, Aia Nuova, Cerreta, Sassicaia di Sopra and San Martino on calcareous-marly soils with pebbles. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates (85%) with Cabernet Franc (15%) — structured, powerful Bordeaux-style profile with fine tannins, 24-month French barrel ageing, long cellaring potential, Super Tuscan icon.

The wine region of Tuscany

Kingdom of Sangiovese: upright reds with cherry, plum, dried herbs and leather, lively acidity and firm tannins. Fleshy, food-friendly Chianti Classico DOCG, deep long-ageing Brunello di Montalcino (spice, tobacco, ripe black fruit), elegant Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. On the coast, Bolgheri crafts the opulent Cabernet- and Merlot-based 'Super Tuscans'. Some fresh white Vernaccia.

The word of the wine: Prompt bud

A bud that develops in the year of its formation and gives an entrecoeur.
