The wine region of Lefkada
PGI on the Ionian island of Lefkada (2000), limestone soils and a windy maritime climate, terraced vineyards. Vertzami is the autochthonous red king (~90% of plantings): near-black robe of rare intensity, full-bodied and structured with blackberry, black cherry, plum, Mediterranean herbs and a peppery note, firm tannins and ageing potential. Endemic Vardea is the fresh white king with citrus, apple and a floral touch, perfect with grilled fish.
The wine region of Ionian Islands
Greek PGI of the Ionian Sea islands (Corfu, Cephalonia, Zakynthos, Ithaca, Lefkada, Kythira), temperate maritime climate. Robola of Cephalonia is the indigenous signature white — taut and mineral with bright citrus, lemon, green apple, white flowers and a flint-saline note from limestone altitude (Mount Ainos), brilliant acidity. Golden Muscat and Mavrodaphne as sweet fortified historical cuvées. Rare indigenous Vostilidi, Tsaousi and Zakynthino as complements.
The word of the wine: Stirring
In the traditional method, the operation aims to bring the deposits against the cork by the movement of the bottles placed on desks. The stirring can be manual or mechanical (using gyropalettes).
