Often vinified off-dry or sweet. Grown in Germany (Rheinhessen, Pfalz), England, British Columbia and the American Pacific Northwest. German hybrid created in 1929 by Georg Scheu at Alzey (madeleine angevine × gewürztraminer).

Riesling flagship white (~50%): taut and mineral with signature notes of white peach, lemon, green apple, white flowers and slate touch, lively and long palate. Supple and floral Müller-Thurgau, round Grauburgunder (apple, hazelnut), fine Weissburgunder. Light Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) emerging.
