The Château Pavie Decesse is a wine estate located in Saint-Émilion, France, listed among the greatest classified crus of Bordeaux. It is a family estate whose history dates back to the end of the 19th century, long before their wines were recognized internationally. The Château Pavie Decesse is one of the chateaus that received the classification of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé in 2012. Located on a limestone plateau covered with pebbles, the vineyard extends over an area of 19 hectares and is perfectly oriented to enjoy sunlight. Here, the soil is quite deep and slightly alkaline. During the harvest, the bunches are manually selected to respect the quality of the Château's wines. The grapes are then meticulously sorted according to their maturities, and fermented individually. The production and aging of the wines are carefully monitored, allowing the Château to produce wines of excellent quality. Château Pavie Decesse produces a rich and complex red wine that subtly blends gourmet nuances of black fruit, spice notes, and delicately ripe tannins. The white wines are equally exceptional, with powerful aromatic properties and penetrating aromas of apple, lemongrass, and lime. The wines of Château Pavie Decesse are highly appreciated in France and internationally. Available at reasonable prices, they offer excellent value for money. These wines are a must to accompany dishes with robust flavors, such as kidneys and game.

Discover the grape variety: Cabernet franc

Cabernet Franc is one of the oldest red grape varieties in Bordeaux. The Libourne region is its terroir where it develops best. The terroirs of Saint-Emilion and Fronsac allow it to mature and develop its best range of aromas. It is also the majority in many blends. The very famous Château Cheval Blanc, for example, uses 60% Cabernet Franc. The wines produced with Cabernet Franc are medium in colour with fine tannins and subtle aromas of small red fruits and spices. When blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it brings complexity and a bouquet of aromas to the wine. It produces fruity wines that can be drunk quite quickly, but whose great vintages can be kept for a long time. It is an earlier grape variety than Cabernet Sauvignon, which means that it is planted as far north as the Loire Valley. In Anjou, it is also used to make sweet rosé wines. Cabernet Franc is now used in some twenty countries in Europe and throughout the world.
