Productive and resistant to phylloxera. Now marginal, it survives in a few heritage plots and French ampelographic collections, a witness to post-phylloxera hybridisation. French black hybrid variety obtained by Georges Couderc at the end of the 19th century.

The wine region of San Colombano al Lambro
The only viticultural DOC in the province of Milan (1984), on the sole hills of the Po Plain. Croatina (30-50%) and Barbera (25-50%) as dominant signature varieties in the king red: deep ruby with intense notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, blackberry, sweet spices and a structured touch, lush fruit, lively freshness and balanced velvety tannins. Uva Rara as complement. Chardonnay and Pinot Nero as crisp whites.
