Discover the grape variety: Salagnin

Discovered in the 1870s by Mr. Robin, who lived in the Drôme at the time in Lapeyrouse-Mornay, this ancient grape variety is believed to have originated in the north of Isère. It can also be found in Switzerland. According to Thierry Lacombe (I.N.R.A./Montpellier), it is the result of a natural intraspecific crossing between Tressot Noir and Mondeuse Blanche. It should be noted in passing that, on the one hand, it has exactly the same parents as the mondeuse noire, that on the other hand, it is the mother of the diolinoir and, finally, is related to the servanin. Robin noir is not widely propagated today because it is not well known, although it is listed in the Official Catalogue of Wine Grape Varieties, list A1.

‘Por fin se ha hecho justicia.’ (Finally, justice has been served) This strongly-worded statement was made by the Denomination of Origin Utiel-Requena in Spain’s Autonomous Region of Valencia as part of a press announcement in July. It refers to a Spanish Supreme Court ruling that was fully ratified at the end of September, closing a decade-long conflict between the region’s three DOs that pitted Valencia against Utiel-Requena and Alicante. Warning signs for the wine auction market

Traditionally the wine auction market took the summer off. Although the season has lengthened recently, summer is usually a fallow period. This year, speculation was rampant – will the market (and the prices) continue their upward spiral? The first fall sales have now been conducted, and if prospects for the wine market remain strong, a few clouds linger on the horizon. Wine auction results in 2021 broke all previous records and set a new benchmark. With sales in major auctions of over £500m, th ...
