Cross between the emperor and the 75 Pirovano or sultana moscata obtained in 1939 in the United States by Professor Harold P. Olmo of the University of Davis (California). Yamanashi is the first Japanese Geographical Indication (GI) for wine. Established in 2013, it is situated in the prefecture of the same name. Yamanashi is promoted as the birthplace of Japanese wine production.
