The Château Talbot is one of the oldest French vineyards still in operation in the Bordeaux region of Saint-Julien. Its history begins in the 15th century, at a time when the vineyard was known as Talbot, Château Ortiz. Today, Château Talbot is known for its excellent classes of red wines. It is proudly managed by Jean-Pierre Mauffret. The estate spreads over 177 hectares, of which 75 hectares are vineyards and 21 hectares are forests. The soils are mostly made up of gravel and sand, which give the Talbot red wines a remarkable tannic structure and a brilliant color. The work of the vineyard is carried out according to biological and reasoned practices, which is the origin of the exceptional organoleptic qualities of the wines. Château Talbot chiefly produces red wines, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months to give the red wines their structure, color, and unique aromas. The red wines are powerful, full-bodied, and sophisticated with mature, well-integrated tannins. Château Talbot is also renowned for its white wines, chiefly Sémillon and a blend of Sauvignon and Muscadelle. These dry, fruity wines are raised on lees and offer unique nuances of citrus, flowers, and tropical fruit. Often, these wines are served young, but they are also able to age very well. Château Talbot is a vineyard that has maintained its nobility and unique character for centuries. The wines produced on the estate are recognized as some of the most prestigious in the region and are served on the most distinguished tables. If you are looking for a rich and balanced wine, the wines from this vineyard are made for you.
