The Château Prieuré-Lichine is considered one of the greatest family estates in Bordeaux. It is the fruit of a long collaboration between Alexis Lichine, a pioneer of wine art, and his friend and partner, David Backniner, a viticulturist and oenologist. The Château Prieuré-Lichine was established in 1865 by Alexis Lichine and encompasses over 54 hectares of vineyards, located on clay-limestone soils. These vineyard parcels, situated on the left bank of the famous Gironde, are exposed to a very mild climate, with an optimal humidity rate, allowing the grapes to reach remarkable maturity. The Château Prieuré-Lichine primarily produces red wine, mainly from cabernet sauvignon and merlot, and a small quantity of white wine from sauvignon blanc and sémillon. The wines are strictly selected and carefully matured, to give them all possible expressions, before a particularly meticulous bottling. Visitors can sample the exceptional vintages of the estate on one of the beautiful grounds of the property, under the vines, or in the recently renovated tasting room.
