The Château de Pierreux is a wine estate located in the Isère department, near Brouilly, a famous wine village situated in the heart of the Côte-d'Or vineyards. The region as a whole is known for its wine and for the fact that it produces the same type of wine as the white Burgundy from Chablis. Château de Pierreux is an exceptional estate. The property has a profound history dating back to the 18th century. It was founded by Gillette de Pierreux, a noble heiress who transformed what was then just a modest wine village into a large and beautiful estate. She restored the original house and created a vineyard to accommodate over 15 hectares of vineyards that mainly produce white Burgundy wines. The vineyard of Château de Pierreux is primarily planted with Chardonnay, but it also houses rarer grape varieties such as Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Melon. Due to its mild climate and limestone soils, Château de Pierreux produces a dry, fruity and light white wine, with a beautiful acidity and subtle nuances of herbs, flowers, and spices. The wines from Château de Pierreux are praised by critics and wine connoisseurs from around the world and are among the greatest white Burgundy wines. The property is a true wine jewel and offers an exciting visit with tastings and trips to the wine shop. During your visit, you will learn everything there is to know about wine culture and can taste the best wines from the estate.

Discovering the wine region of Brouilly

Brouilly is an appellation for red wines produced from Vineyards in north-central Beaujolais. The lower slopes of Mont Brouilly and the surrounding countryside contain large plantings of the Gamay Grape. The wines produced here are relatively robust and Full-bodied, in contrast to the light, fresh wines of Beaujolais Nouveau. The wines are fruitier than many of the other Beaujolais crus, with plum and berry flavors overpowering the traditional Floral">floralCharacter of Gamay.

The appellation was officially delimited along with most other Beaujolais crus in the 1930s. While the appellation applies only to red wines, the white varieties Chardonnay, Aligoté and Melon de Bourgogne can account for 15% of the vineyard area. They are also authorised as a minor component of the blend in Brouilly wines. The Brouilly wine area covers six communes around Mont Brouilly, none of which bears the name Brouilly, which is unusual for a Beaujolais cru.
