The wine region of Val di Neto
Calabrian IGT (1995) in the province of Crotone along the Neto river, sandy-clay terroirs and Ionian breezes. Gaglioppo, the native red signature, shows evolving ruby colour with cherry, crushed strawberry, garrigue, Mediterranean herbs and a spiced-pepper note, firm tannins and lively acidity. Greco Bianco as the floral-citrus white signature. Greco Nero and Magliocco in support.
The wine region of Calabria
Italy's far south between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas, a millennia-old tradition (Greek "Oenotria"). Emblematic Gaglioppo (the "black prince"): sun-drenched reds with signature notes of black cherry, candied plum, garrigue, tobacco, spice and balsamic notes, firm tannins — peaking at Ciro DOC on the Ionian coast. Also fleshy Magliocco, dense Nerello, Greco Bianco in a fresh, almondy white, ample Mantonico. Hot Mediterranean climate, volcanic and clay-sandy soils.
The word of the wine: Chair
Characteristic of a wine that gives an impression of fullness and density in the mouth, without any roughness.
