A very old grape variety grown in Croatia, on the island of Korcula in southern Dalmatia. It is said to be the result of a natural cross between two Croatian grape varieties, zlatarica blatska and bratkovina. It should not be confused with furmint, which has the synonym posip. The wine region of Vino da Tavola
Vino da Tavola was the most basic classification of Italian wines. It is now renamed simply "Vino" and appears on labels as Vino d'Italia. The original name literally means "table wine" as opposed to premium wines from specific geographical locations (see EU wine label). In May 2011, the first legal steps were taken to abolish the Vino da Tavola category, in favor of a New classification of wines called simply Vino.
The word of the wine: Reassembly
During the vinification process, a "cap" is formed at the top of the vats with the solid parts (skin, pulp, pips, etc.), which contain tannins and colouring elements. Pumping over consists of emptying the vat from the bottom and pouring the juice back to the top, in order to mix the cap and the juice and to favour the exchange and the extraction. This old technique allows a better exchange between the solid parts and the liquid.
