The wine region of Ribera del Júcar
DO of Castile-La Mancha along the Júcar river (~9,000 ha), calcium-rich alluvial soils, marked continental climate concentrating aromas and substance. Cencibel (alias Tempranillo) is the signature red: balanced and fruity with red cherry, plum, herbs, vanilla and a spicy oaked touch, smooth tannins. Bobal, an indigenous Levante variety, in dense tannic reds (blackberry, candied plum). Firm Cabernet Sauvignon.
