First AVA of Illinois (2006) in the wooded Shawnee Hills, temperate continental climate. Chambourcin is the signature hybrid red: supple with intense cherry, blackberry, plum, a spicy-smoky touch, round tannins and fresh finish. Cabernet Franc adds herbaceous notes. Traminette with flowers and lychee, and Chardonel (Chardonnay-Seyval) with apple, pear and mineral touch are the signature whites.
