Castilla-La Mancha is a large region located South and east of the Spanish capital, Madrid. Inexpensive table wines are produced from a variety of Grapes. Higher quality wines are increasingly available, but the region is traditionally known as a source of low quality bulk wine. More than half of Spain's grapes are grown here.
Traditionally, only grape varieties that can tolerate hot, Dry conditions were planted. The white Airen grape is at the top of the list and remains the most planted grape in Castilla-La Mancha (and indeed in all of Spain). However, it is not a particularly respected variety, so many producers have expanded their portfolios. Red grapes dominate the rest of the range.
The white Chardonnay is a grape variety that originated in France (Burgundy). It produces a variety of grape specially used for wine making. It is rare to find this grape to eat on our tables. This variety of grape is characterized by small bunches, and small grapes. White Chardonnay can be found in many vineyards: South West, Burgundy, Jura, Languedoc & Roussillon, Cognac, Bordeaux, Beaujolais, Savoie & Bugey, Loire Valley, Champagne, Rhone Valley, Armagnac, Lorraine, Alsace, Provence & Corsica.
white wines from the region of Castille go well with generally quite well with dishes of pork, game (deer, venison) or shellfish such as recipes of the tartiflette wrap, roast doe in the oven or wok of shrimps with vegetables.
On the nose in the region of Castille often reveals types of flavors of honey, earth or citrus fruit and sometimes also flavors of vegetal, tree fruit or tropical fruit. In the mouth in the region of Castille is a with a nice freshness.
