The wine region of Douro Superior is located in the region of Douro of Duriense of Portugal. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine H. Abrantes or the Domaine Maçanita produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Douro Superior are Touriga nacional, Touriga franca and Tinta Barroca, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety.
On the nose of Douro Superior often reveals types of flavors of cherry, pear or apricot and sometimes also flavors of stone, vegetal or tree fruit. In the mouth of Douro Superior is a powerful with a nice freshness. We currently count 23 estates and châteaux in the of Douro Superior, producing 50 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Douro Superior go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, pasta or lamb.
