Interspecific cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Solaris (Merzling x Geisenheim 6493 (Zarya Severa x Muscat Ottonel)) made in 1982 by Norbert Becker of the Freiburg Research Institute in Germany. It has the particularity of having only one gene for resistance to mildew and powdery mildew. The wine region of Eastern Switzerland
St. Gallen is a German-speaking Canton of eastern Switzerland with a corresponding AOC. Much of the winegrowing that does occur within its borders takes place in the Rheintal region (the upper Rhein Valley) whose name often appears more prominently on labels. However, even here, wine production is not the dominant land-based industry.
The word of the wine: Table wine
Everything that is not VQPRD (European designation for all appellation wines: quality wine produced in a specific region). In principle, the bottom of the ladder. But, as in Italy a decade ago (Vino da Tavola), this category is also a refuge for wines that are out of the ordinary, whose producers refuse to accept certain grape variety or vinification dictates.
