The wine region of Aragatsotn
Wine region west of Yerevan at the foot of Mount Aragats, vineyards at 1,100-1,400 m on volcanic soils. Areni native signature red ("king of Armenian varieties"): medium-bodied with red fruit, cherry, soft spice and floral hints, lively acidity and silky tannins — between Pinot Noir and Grenache. Voskehat native signature white ("golden variety") originating from this region: dry with stone fruit, honeysuckle, pineapple and mineral notes.
The word of the wine: Cinsault
Cinsault is a southern black grape variety that can be found in the blends of most Mediterranean appellations, but most often as an accessory grape variety. It is undoubtedly most present in certain rosé wines (in Corbières, Côtes-de-Provence, etc.): it gives these wines highly appreciated aromas of strawberry, peach and raspberry. In vin de pays (IGP), it is often vinified on its own, usually as a rosé.
