The wine region of Valpaços
DOC sub-region of Trás-os-Montes in the extreme north-east of Portugal (north of the Douro, plains with abundant water resources, granite soils adding acidity and freshness, arid continental climate, very hot summers and cold winters). Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca as Douro indigenous signature reds — full-bodied, alcohol-rich profiles reflecting summer heat and concentration. Tinta Amarela and Bastardo as complements, Gouveio and Malvasia Fina in fresh whites.
The wine region of Transmontano
Regional Wine (IGP Trás-os-Montes) of north-east Portugal, "beyond the mountains" of Marão and Alvão, vineyards along the Tua, Sabor and Tâmega valleys, sheltered continental climate. Signature Touriga Nacional: intense and structured with blackberry, black cherry, violet, liquorice and balsamic hints, firm tannins and vibrant fruit. Elegant Touriga Franca, dense Tinta Roriz and spiced Trincadeira as complements. Gouveio, Síria, Malvasia Fina and Viosinho in whites.
The word of the wine: Round
