Located in the historic region of Toro, Spain, the Pintia Estate is a hidden gem of the Spanish wine industry. It belongs to the prestigious family-owned Vega Sicilia, renowned for its high-quality wines and commitment to sustainable viticulture. The Pintia Estate spans approximately 96 hectares of vineyards, all carefully located along the banks of the Duero River. The environment is harsh and the climate extreme, with cold winters and hot summers experiencing intense seasonal drought. Yet, it's under these challenging conditions that Pintia Estate's vineyards thrive, producing bold and complex wines that reflect the unique character of the terroir. The primary grape variety grown on the property is Tinta de Toro, a native Tempranillo varietal that has adapted to survive the region's inhospitable climate. These resilient vines yield powerful, flavor-packed wines with mature tannins and balanced acidity. This prestigious winery not only produces some of the best expressions of Tinta de Toro, but also remains dedicated to environmentally-friendly viticultural practices. Indeed, Vega Sicilia, the estate's owner, is committed to sustainable and organic farming, limiting the use of chemical products and practicing viticultural methods that respect the soils and surrounding ecosystem. The winemaking process at Pintia Estate is as meticulous as the cultivation of the vines. Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure only the best fruit is used. Emphasis is placed on expressing the terroir, with new wood vinification to preserve the nuances of the grape variety and soil.
